India, UK Defence Ministers Meet in Mumbai to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth held a bilateral meeting with the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Defence Vernon Coaker, in Mumbai today. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the UK Carrier Strike Group’s (CSG) visit to India.
During the discussion, both sides reviewed the ongoing defence engagements and explored ways to deepen India-UK cooperation. This includes maritime collaboration, indigenous defence manufacturing, opportunities in global defence supply chains and strengthening maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Indian Ocean region to ensure a free, open, and rules-based order.
Mr. Seth highlighted the successful completion of the sea phase of Exercise Konkan-25 by the UK and Indian Carrier Strike Groups off India’s western coast, emphasizing that such joint exercises enhance interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a robust and multifaceted defence partnership, guided by the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the ‘India-UK Vision 2035’ adopted during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK in July 2025.
