Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today said that India aims to double its Defence production to 3 lakh crore rupees by 2029. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Dr Mandaviya said that the nation has already shown remarkable growth in defence production and currently stands at 1 lakh 50 thousand crore rupees. He noted that, similarly, defence exports will double from 25 thousand crore rupees to 50 thousand crore rupees in the next 4 years. He stressed that this will strengthen India’s role as an important player in the global defence leadership.

 

 

Underlining other achievements in the defence sector, the minister highlighted that India is on the path to self-reliance or Atmanirbharta through relaxation in licensing, inclusion of private companies, greater role of MSMEs, and technology transfer.
