The government is ensuring the 100% supply of LPG for domestic households, and no dry out has been reported at any LPG distributors in the country. Addressing the Inter-Ministerial briefing in New Delhi this afternoon, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma said that the domestic supply of LPG is normal across the country. She said, OTP based domestic LPG delivery is being ensured to prevent any kind of diversion. She added that the commercial supply of LPG has been restored to 70%. The Joint Secretary also said that measures have been taken by the government to prevent supply chain disruption due to the West Asia crisis. She also noted that over 1 lakh 82000 tonnes of commercial LPG sales have been registered since the 14th of March
During the Inter-Ministerial Briefing, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Dr Hanif Qureshi, said that the government has also extended subsidies for electric three-wheelers under the Prime Minister Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) scheme by two years till March 2028. He also said, time period for subsidies for electric two-wheelers is also extended by three months till July this year. Considering the supply chain issues due to the West Asia crisis, the Phased Manufacturing Programme guidelines for trucks and buses have been relaxed by six months till September 1st 2026.
Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mukesh Mangal, said that all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf region are safe and no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels has been reported in the past 24 hours. He said the Indian-flagged vessel Jag Vikram, carrying 20,400 metric tonnes of LPG and onboarding 24 seafarers, is expected to reach Kandla Port tomorrow.
Additional Secretary, Gulf in the Ministry of External Affairs, Assem R Mahajan, said that the government is continuously monitoring the developments in the Gulf and West Asia Region, and its efforts are focused on ensuring the safety, security and welfare of the Indian community in the region. He informed that Indian Missions are extending all assistance to the Indian crew members on the vessel in the region, including coordination with local authorities and agencies extending consular assistance and facilitating requests for return to India.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said that India is strengthening its outreach to Gulf countries amid the West Asia crisis. He said that External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar recently undertook a visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he called on UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and thanked him for ensuring the well- being of the Indian community in the UAE.
