Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, India is prepared to lead the world in the media and entertainment sector. He said the entertainment economy is the new development engine for India and Maharashtra. Mr Fadnavis added that through this summit, India is ready to become a creative superpower and lead the world in this field. The Chief Minister highlighted that this summit is a shining example of the synergy between the Centre and the Maharashtra government.
Speaking on the occasion, Industrialist Mukesh Ambani said India’s entertainment and cultural industries are not just a soft power, but the real power. He said, WAVES will become a place of Dreamers, makers and change makers. Mr Ambani called WAVES a grand celebration of creativity and the power of ideas that move the world. He said the media and entertainment industry today is valued at 28 billion dollars, and it can grow to over 100 billion dollars in the next decade. Mr Ambani said, WAVES is amplifying India’s voice on the global stage.
