In Badminton, Indian men’s team will take on France for a place in the finals of Thomas Cup 2026 at Horsens in Denmark today. India advanced to the semifinals after a dominant 3-nil win over Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals yesterday. However, Lakshya Sen has been ruled out due to a swollen elbow.
World No. 30 Kidambi Shrikant will compete in his absence. With Lakshya unavailable, Ayush Shetty will play the opening Singles against world No. 4. Christo Popov. Srikanth will feature in the second Singles against world No. 10 Alex Lanier.
While,HS Prannoy will then take on world No. 17 Toma Junior Popov. If the tie extends beyond the singles, Hariharan Amsakarunan and M. R. Arjun are slated to face Eloi Adam and Leo Rossi in the first doubles. In the concluding match, world No. 4 pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on the Popov brothers. India has already secured a medal after reaching the semi-finals. The country had won the Thomas Cup in 2022 and claimed bronze medals in 1952, 1955 and 1979.
