Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita has said that India remains committed to supporting the Kalinago community of Dominica through its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. In a social media post, Mr Margherita said that he visited the Kalinago Territory, home to the indigenous Kalinago community of Dominica. He added that India continues to deepen its friendship with Dominica, rooted in shared democratic values and South-South cooperation. The Kalinago are the indigenous people of Dominica, representing the last remaining community in the Caribbean directly descended from the region’s first peoples.
