Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of high level engagements on the second day of his official visit to New Zealand. These engagements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and cultural exchanges between India and New Zealand.

Earlier in the day, en route to Rotorua, the Minister met CEO, Air New Zealand, Mr. Nikhil Ravishankar. He highlighted India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector and underscored the significant opportunities it offers for strengthening collaboration in air services and tourism. The discussions focused on the airline’s role in enhancing regional and global connectivity.

Mr Goyal also co-chaired the India-New Zealand CEOs Roundtable with his counterpart Todd McClay. The roundtable brought together leading business representatives from both countries. Addressing the gathering, Mr Goyal highlighted India’s rapidly evolving economic landscape and said that greater collaboration in areas such as technology, agriculture, education, clean energy and sustainability can unlock new avenues of growth. He expressed happiness that many of the business leaders at the Roundtable were of Indian origin. He also called on New Zealand companies to engage closely with the Indian industry in this shared journey, of mutual benefit and long-term value for both sides.

The Minister also participated in the celebrations of 150 years of Vande Mataram in New Zealand. Addressing the vibrant Indian community, Mr Goyal urged them to contribute further to India’s Viksit Bharat journey through their expertise and experience. He said that their warmth, pride, and enduring connection to India are truly heartening.
