The India Maritime week will be held from 27th to 31st October in Mumbai. Nearly one lakh delegates from over 100 countries will participate in the event. In an interaction with media in Chennai today, the Secretary for Shipping, Ports and Waterways T.K. Ramachandran said that the event will be a platform to showcase progress across the maritime sector, including ports, shipping and waterways.
He informed that this effort will bring global and domestic leaders to foster dialogue, innovation and policy initiatives at building sustainable and future ready maritime courses. The target is for One lakh Crore rupees investment opportunities during the maritime week.
He asserted that during the previous India Maritime week, Chennai Port signed over 30 MoUs worth over 8000 Crore rupees. The MoUs were signed for many fields including business expansion with IOCL for the creation of a bunkering hub, Capacity expansion through dredging and construction of tank farms.
This year the event will culminate in five days of policy, commerce and technology, discussions at the Bombay Exhibition Centre Mumbai. A series of roadshows is being organised across the Country to sensitize regional businesses and trade bodies and to encourage States and Industry partners to participate in the India Maritime Week event.
