India & Italy ties built on shared democratic values: EAM Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today highlighted that the India-Italy partnership is built on democratic values and a shared commitment to a stable, secure, and prosperous world.
 
In his opening remarks during a meeting with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, Dr Jaishankar underlined that both countries are moving forward with the Joint Strategic Action Plan for 2025-29. Dr Jaishankar thanked Mr Tajani for extending his condolences over the Delhi terror attack.
 
He further highlighted the joint initiative to counter the financing of terrorism, which was announced during the meeting between the Prime Ministers of both countries on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.
 
He underscored that the two sides look forward to discussions on political cooperation, defence, maritime security, space, culture, critical technologies, and people-to-people ties.
 
During his two-day visit to India, Italy’s DPM Tajani and his delegation met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today.
 
Mr Tajani is also scheduled to visit Mumbai tomorrow to co-chair the Italy-India Business Forum along with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.
 
This is his second visit to India this year. His engagements in Delhi and Mumbai will further strengthen the India-Italy Strategic Partnership.
