India-Indonesia Ties Date Back Thousands of Years, Beyond Geopolitics: PM Modi during Maha Kumbabhishegam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India and Indonesia relations are not just geopolitical but date back thousands of years. Delivering his remarks via video message during Maha Kumbabhishegam of Shri Sanathana Dharma Aalayam in Jakarta, Indonesia, Mr Modi said India and Indonesia are connected through culture, civilizational ties and spirituality. He added that whenever an Indian visits the temples in Indonesia like Prambanan Temple, they are reminded of Kashi and Kedarnath.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the Bali Jatra festival in Odisha celebrates the ancient maritime voyages that once connected India and Indonesia culturally and commercially. He added that even today, when Indians travel by Garuda Indonesia Airlines, they see the shared cultural heritage.

Expressing his fortune to be part of the ceremony, Mr Modi remarked that the presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made the event even more special for him. He extended his congratulations to all devotees of Lord Murugan in Indonesia and around the world on the occasion of the Maha Kumbhabhishegam of the Jakarta Temple.
