India Highlights Terrorism as a Grave Threat to Human Rights at UNHRC

Secretary (West) of the External Affairs Ministry, Sibi George, said that terrorism is one of the gravest threats to human rights. Mr George was delivering India’s national statement at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The Secretary said that the world must remain steadfast in the resolve to countering terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and must speak with one voice on this issue. Highlighting the country’s efforts in empowering citizens about AI and digital tools, Mr George said India is harnessing digital tools to expand access to rights for all. He added that the use of digital tools has facilitated access to justice, civil and political rights, democratic participation of 1.4 billion Indians and the empowerment of women in the country.
