Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Harivansh, said that India and the European Union are two of the largest and most vibrant democracies, open market economies, and pluralistic societies. He observed that the trajectory of India-European relations continues to be on the rise. He said this while interacting with a Parliamentary Delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade Affairs (INTA) at Parliament in New Delhi yesterday. The delegation was led by INTA Standing Rapporteur for India, Cristina Maestre. During the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the India-EU FTA will be completed soon. 

 

 

Expressing satisfaction that there has been good momentum in parliamentary exchanges, the Deputy Chairman recalled the visit of the All-Party Parliamentary Delegation to Brussels in June this year, following the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam. He emphasised that such regular parliamentary exchanges symbolise the strengthening of the India-EU partnership.
