The India-European Union Free Trade Agreement is expected to boost leather exports tremendously. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani News, Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) Chairman Sanjay Leekha said that leather exports from India are likely to multiply manifold over the next two years. He added that this is a positive development that will create employment opportunities. He further said that the agreement will help achieve the target of 30 billion dollars in exports over the next few years.
Director of Fine Jewellery Manufacturing Limited, Sohil Kothari, described the India-EU trade agreement as beneficial and advantageous for the gems and jewellery export business. He said that it would provide the jewellery manufacturing industry with import duty exemptions and a competitive edge. Referring to the rising prices of gold and silver, Mr. Kothari added that this agreement would offer relief to the industry.
Managing Director at Primus Partners India, Ramakrishnan M, said that this agreement is a significant step for the overall Indian food and agriculture ecosystem. He added that it could have a multi-billion-dollar impact on food and agriculture trade and further boost the country’s overall exports.
