India delivers 20 tonnes of vaccines and dry materials to Afghanistan for child immunisation programme

India has delivered twenty tonnes of critical dry materials for BCG, and Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccines to Kabul to augment Afghanistan’s Child Immunisation Programme. In a social media post, Ministry of External Affairs said that more consignments are underway. New Delhi has expressed commitment to support the people of Afghanistan in health sector.

Reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to Afghanistan’s healthcare sector, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India remains committed to supporting the friendly people of Afghanistan in the health sector. The assistance is aimed at strengthening child healthcare services and expanding immunisation coverage in the country.

The latest consignment follows India’s earlier delivery of 13 tonnes of BCG vaccines and related dry materials in April to support Afghanistan’s immunisation efforts against tuberculosis. India has also been extending humanitarian assistance to people affected by floods and earthquakes in Afghanistan through relief materials, medicines and essential supplies.
