In Women’s cricket, India defeated Sri Lanka by 30 runs in the fourth T20 International in Thiruvananthapuram tonight to take an unassailable 4-Nil lead in the five-match series.
Chasing a target of 222 runs, Sri Lanka made 191 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu was the highest scorer with 52 for Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Batting first, India scored 221 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The Indian openers gave a solid start, with Smriti Mandhana scoring 87 off 48 balls, while Shafali Verma contributed 79 off 46 balls.
Richa Ghosh then gave a brilliant finish, smashing 40 off just 16 balls to help India reach a commanding total. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. The fifth and final match of the series will be played on Tuesday at the same venue.
