India has expressed hope that all measures will be taken to fully safeguard the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Preah Vihear temple and related conservation facilities in the midst of ongoing Thailand-Cambodia border clashes. In response to media queries regarding damage to conservation facilities at Preah Vihear, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said any damage to conservation facilities is unfortunate and a matter of concern.

He said the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Preah Vihear temple is a shared cultural heritage of humanity, and India has been closely involved in its preservation. India has appealed to both sides to exercise restraint and to take measures for the cessation of hostilities and the prevention of further escalation. Mr Jaiswal urged them to return to the path of dialogue and peace.
