India Begin FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers with 4-0 Win Over Uruguay

In Hockey, Indian women’s hockey will face Scotland in their second Pool B match of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers in Hyderabad today. The match will begin at 7:30 PM. Yesterday, the Indian team, led by Salima Tete, began its FIH World Cup Qualifiers 2026 campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Uruguay in Hyderabad.
 
Sunelita Toppo opened the scoring in the 21st minute, while Ishika doubled the lead in the 40th minute. Lalremsiami added the third goal in the 49th minute, and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal sealed the win in the 58th minute.
 
The Hyderabad meet is one of two qualifying tournaments for the Women’s Hockey World Cup, alongside another event in Santiago, Chile. The teams finishing first, second and third in both Hyderabad and Santiago will earn direct qualification for the 2026 Women’s Hockey World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands.
