In cricket, India registered a dominant 48 run victory over Australia in the fourth T20 International at Carrara Oval in Queensland today. With this win, the Men in Blue have taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. Chasing a target of 168 runs, Australia were bowled out for 119 in 18.2 overs. The hosts started reasonably well against the new ball; however, they were strangled in the middle overs, mainly by the spin duo of Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy, before Washington Sundar chipped in with three wickets towards the end. For Australia, skipper and opener Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 30 off 24 balls.
Earlier, after being put in to bat first, India set a target of 168 runs for Australia. Shubman Gill, with 46 runs, was the top scorer for the visitors. Among the Australian bowlers, Nathan Ellis was the pick of the lot with three wickets, while Adam Zampa also claimed three, though he proved to be on the more expensive side.
Axar Patel was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring 21 runs off 11 balls with the bat and taking two wickets with the ball.
