India has appreciated Latvia for its condemnation of all forms of terrorism and reiterated its support for Latvia’s successful stint at the United Nations Security Council for 2026-2027.
External Affairs Secretary (West), Sibi George, conveyed this during the 9th India-Latvia Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held in Riga, the capital of the Baltic nation. The Latvian side was led by the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons.
During the meeting, the entire gamut of bilateral relations was reviewed. Both sides agreed to expand their relations in areas of trade, technology, innovation and people-to-people ties. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. It was agreed to maintain regular official exchanges and hold the next FOC in New Delhi at a mutually convenient time next year.
Secretary (West) George also called on Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže.
