India and Tajikistan held the 5th Round of Foreign Office Consultations in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, yesterday. The consultations were co-chaired by Ambassador Sibi George, Secretary (West) and Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Idibek Kalandar. During the consultations, both sides comprehensively reviewed the status of bilateral cooperation in the areas of politics, Defence, Security, Trade, Economy, Culture, Education and Consular matters. The two sides also discussed cooperation within multilateral frameworks and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. During the visit, Secretary (West) called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin. In the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership and to broaden the scope of bilateral engagement. Secretary (West) also interacted with the Indian community in Dushanbe and appreciated their contributions to strengthening both countries’ relations.
