Incessant Rains Lash Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Marathwada; 1,004 Villages Affected, 200 Cattle Dead

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Marathwada has been lashed by incessant rains for the past four days, leading to severe flooding across the region. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division recorded 32.30 mm of rainfall yesterday, with 57 revenue circles reporting heavy showers. So far, 1,004 villages have been affected, and more than 200 cattle have perished.

 

 

 

In the Nanded district, five people have died due to flood-related incidents, including three women trapped in rising waters. Cloudburst-like rains in Mukhed taluka caused flooding in the Lendi River, submerging four villages and damaging crops, livestock, and property. Several reservoirs are overflowing, including Isapur and Siddheshwar dams in Hingoli, Nimn Dudhna in Parbhani, Yeldari dam releasing 64,000 cusecs into the Purna river, and Maanjara and Nimn Terna projects in Latur have opened multiple gates. Authorities have sounded alerts in low-lying and riverside villages.

 

 

In the Beed district, heavy rains inundated large parts of Parli Vaijnath taluka. A tragic incident was reported when a car was swept away in floodwaters at Kaudgaon Huda village, claiming one life. In Latur district, 70 houses in Udgir taluka were flooded, forcing the relocation of 210 people. Power supply has been disrupted in several villages due to collapsed electric poles and transformers.

 

 

In Jalna, the Sant Gadgebaba dam at Ghanewadi has reached full capacity, while multiple barrages on the Godavari are overflowing. The Kundalika River in Jalna city is also in spate. Division Commissioner Jitendra Papalkar has appealed to citizens and the administration to remain vigilant, while local leaders have urged people living along riverbanks to move to safer areas.
