Secretary, Economic Relations in the External Affairs Ministry, Dammu Ravi, today said that the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, IMEC is critical to India from a strategic point of view. Delivering the keynote address at a conference in New Delhi, Mr Ravi said India can be the glue and anchor for this key project with its friendly relations and fast economic growth. He complimented Chintan Research Foundation for organising a conference on a subject which has huge implications to India’s growth and its vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The daylong conference brought together experts from the governments, academia, industry and private businesses across the globe to discuss the various aspects of IMEC, its potential and promises, and its weaknesses and threats. India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor is a trans- continental connectivity project, which promises to transform the lives of people across continents. It was announced on the side-lines of the G20 Summit in Delhi in September 2023. IMEC is a bold vision to connect India with Europe across the Arabian Peninsula.
