IMD Warns of Rain, Thunderstorms in Multiple States; Bay Depression May Turn Cyclone Tomorrow

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Saurashtra and Kutch today. Heavy rainfall is also very likely at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and West Madhya Pradesh.
 
 
The weather department has further predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The IMD said that a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow.
 
 
Under the influence of this system, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the central and southern parts of the country for the next three to four days.
