IMD forecasts heavy snowfall over J&K, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. The weather agency has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Chandigarh tomorrow.
 
Dense fog conditions will prevail over Bihar, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and the North-eastern states. The Met Department has also predicted cold wave conditions over Himachal Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka and Telangana. Cold day conditions will prevail over East Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
 
IMD has also forecast thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and West Rajasthan.
 
Several flights and trains experienced disruptions due to dense fog conditions in the National Capital and the NCR region today. Delhi Airport said that around 118 flights were cancelled due to low visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
 
The Delhi Division of Indian Railways said that the movement of several Delhi-bound trains was also affected today. It said that around 28 trains were delayed by more than 3 hours.
 
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has been registered in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the National Capital was recorded at 372 as of 8 PM today.
