The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Goa, with warning of an increase in rainfall activity across the state from 15th to 20th August 2025. According to the forecast, widespread rainfall with heavy showers at a few places is expected on 16th, 18th and 19th August, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated locations on 17th August. Surface winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, may affect both North and South Goa districts.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant as occasional very heavy showers could trigger waterlogging and traffic disruptions, particularly in low-lying areas. Coastal regions may also experience gusty winds of 55-60 kmph, posing risks to marine activities.
Fishermen have been strictly warned against venturing into the Goa coast between 15th and 19th August due to rough sea conditions. Authorities have urged the public to follow official updates, avoid flood-prone zones and plan travel accordingly.
