IMD has said that the low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression. An alert for heavy rain has been issued for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Northern Andhra Pradesh. In Tamil Nadu, holidays have been declared for schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram due to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to remain in the poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s air quality index was recorded at 345 at 7 AM this morning. The sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management has already imposed Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-2 restrictions in the National Capital Region. An Air Quality Index between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, and 301 and 400 destitute. An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered severe.
