The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for dense to very dense fog over Uttar Pradesh during the next three to four days. Similar conditions are expected to prevail over Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab. The IMD said dense fog conditions are expected over parts of North East India, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Uttarakhand for the next three to four days.
The weather agency also predicted cold to Severe Cold Day conditions over Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand tomorrow. Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds are also expected to prevail over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands till 30th December. Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has been registered in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the National Capital was recorded at 353 as of 7 AM today.
