The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert predicting dense to very dense fog over Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab for the next three days. The MeT department said that dense fog conditions are expected over parts of North East India, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Uttarakhand till the 1st January, 2026. The weather agency also predicted cold to severe cold day conditions over Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand tomorrow.
Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds are also expected to prevail over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands till the 30th December. Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has been registered in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the National Capital was recorded at 371 as of 1 PM today.
