The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Dense to very dense fog over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi for the next two to three days. The Met Department also predicted dense fog conditions over Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till the 25th of January.
Similar conditions will prevail over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till the 26th of January. According to the weather agency, Northwest India will experience a gradual fall in minimum temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the next 2 days. Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR was registered in the poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the National Capital was recorded at 285 as of 7 PM today.
