The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall over South Konkan, Coastal and Ghat Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, and Goa. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani News, senior IMD scientist Dr. R.K. Jenamani said that a low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea, off the South Konkan-Goa coast, is persisting near the Goa coast and may intensify into a depression. He further stated that all conditions are favourable for the onset of the monsoon over Kerala in the next two to three days.
Meanwhile, a heatwave is likely to prevail over West Rajasthan for the next two to three days. The IMD has also predicted dust storms in the region. Meanwhile, people in Delhi NCR are expected to get relief from scorching heat as the region is likely to witness light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning today.
