IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Across Lakshadweep, Andaman, North Interior Karnataka Till 31st October

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall over Odisha for today. According to the weather agency, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Kerala and Mahe for the next two to three days.

 

Similar conditions will prevail over Saurashtra, Kutch, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada. The Met department has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds over Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern Region till the 31st of this month.

 

Meanwhile, the weather agency has informed that Cyclone Montha has weakened into a cyclonic storm over coastal Andhra Pradesh and is likely to move northwestwards across coastal Andhra Pradesh and maintain its cyclonic storm intensity during the next 6 hours, then weaken further into a deep depression during the subsequent 6 hours.

 

The agency further said that the latest observations indicate that the tail end of Cyclone Montha has made landfall.
