The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning over Kerala, Mahe, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today. IMD said that a gradual rise in maximum temperatures is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the northwest parts of India during the next week. Meanwhile, a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2°C to 4 °C is expected over the plains of the eastern parts of the country during the next two days. The weather agency also predicted hot and humid conditions to prevail over Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa between the 4th and the 6th of this month.
