IMD Forecasts Severe Cold Wave, Dense Fog, and Thunderstorms in Parts of India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast severe cold wave conditions over North Interior Karnataka till tomorrow. Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over Chhattisgarh, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka and Odisha today. According to IMD, dense fog conditions are also expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern Parts of the country today. The Met Department has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds in Andaman and Nicobar Islands till tomorrow.
 
Meanwhile, squally weather with wind speeds is likely to prevail over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area during the next 2 to 3 days. Apart from this, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to be in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 390 as of 7 AM today.
