The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka today. It has also predicted heavy rainfall over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan and Goa. Similar conditions will prevail for the day over Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. IMD has also forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over Lakshadweep, Odisha and Telangana.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to remain in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s air quality index was recorded at 332 at 6 AM this morning. The sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management has already imposed the Graded Response Action Plan- GRAP-2 restrictions in the National Capital Region. An Air Quality Index between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, and 301 and 400 very poor. An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered severe.
