India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal tomorrow. The weather agency has predicted cold wave to severe cold wave conditions over Madhya Pradesh till tomorrow. IMD has also said that cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh for the next three days.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to be in the severe category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the region was recorded at 420 as of 8 PM today. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) today imposed Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi and adjoining areas. Under this, schools up to Class 5 have been directed to shift in hybrid mode. The CAQM has also ordered a ban on private BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles. Along with this, non-essential construction and demolition activities, as well as on stone crushers and mining operations.
