IMD forecasts heavy rain in South India, isolated showers in North; squally weather along coastal seas

India Meteorological Department, IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Puducherry and Karaikal till tomorrow. Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to prevail over South Interior Karnataka today. IMD also predicted isolated rainfall or snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next two to three days.

According to the Met Department, there will be a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over Central and Northwest parts of the country during the next three days. IMD said that squally weather is likely to prevail over Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area, adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean, parts of southeast Bay of Bengal and south Andaman Sea, along and off west Sri Lanka coast today.
