The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh for the next five days beginning today. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas are experiencing upper surface cyclonic circulation extending up to 0.9 km above sea level.
The Met department predicts that moderate to heavy rain is likely at isolated places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, while North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
The State Disaster Management Authority advised the public to remain vigilant and avoid standing under trees or near large hoardings during heavy rains and thunderstorms.
