IMD Forecasts Cold Wave in Parts of North and Central India, Heavy Rain in Andhra Pradesh

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Marathwada and Punjab tomorrow. The weather agency also predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms tomorrow over parts of Andhra Pradesh. Places over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning till the 5th of this month. According to the Met department, dense fog conditions are likely to prevail tomorrow in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha.
 
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has shifted from very poor to poor quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index of the region was recorded at 308 as of 9 PM today.
 
Addressing a virtual press conference today Director General of Meteorology, Dr. M. Mohapatra said that during the upcoming winter season normal to below-normal minimum temperatures are likely over most parts of central India and adjoining peninsular and Northwest India. He added that above normal minimum temperatures are likely over the remaining parts of the country.
 
Dr. Mohaparta stated that the occurrence of cold waves during this month is likely to be above normal over parts of northwest, central and northeast India. He said parts of central India, as well as some regions in northwest and northeast India, are likely to experience above-normal occurrences of cold wave days.
