India Meteorological Department has said that the depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by tomorrow. According to IMD, the cyclone is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday.
It added that continuing to move further north-northwestwards, it is very likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada as a severe cyclonic storm. Under the system, heavy rain and strong winds is expected over Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, South Odisha coasts, Chattisgarh, gangetic West Bengal for the next two to four days.
IMD has urged fishermen to not venture into Southwest, adjoining central Bay of Bengal, along and off Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Odisha coasts till the 29th of this month. The weather agency has asked those out at sea to return to the coast immediately.
