IFJ Raises Alarm Over Rising Threats to Media Freedom in Pakistan

 
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has  raised a serious concern over a growing threats to media freedom in Pakistan. In a meeting  in Paris with  Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).
 
 
IFJ President Dominique Pradalie and Secretary General Anthony Bellanger condemns targeted killings, harassment, forced layoffs, undeclared censorship of journalists, along with Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) to register cases against journalists in Pakistan.
 
 
The IFJ leaders requested Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister and top judge to take immediate action, warning that continuous inaction could lead to a request to the United Nation for intervention.
 
 
Meanwhile, the Annual Impunity Report 2025 of Freedom Network named Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad and the province of Punjab as the most dangerous places” for journalists in the country, with violaton rising near 60 per cent in 2025 in comparison to last year.
