IFFI 56 showcases Kannada horror ‘Rudhirvana’ and Musical Tribute to Guru Dutt

The 56th International Film Festival of India in Goa highlighted both new-age cinema and timeless legacy with engaging events around Kannada horror film Rudhirvana and the musical retrospective ‘Dastan-e-Guru Dutt’.

Addressing a press conference, debut director Agni described IFFI as a platform that celebrates cinema beyond boundaries, calling it the ideal space to experience films from across the world.

He noted that horror is a demanding yet commercially viable genre, requiring strong mental focus and creative control. Lead actress Paavana Gowda added that horror helps audiences cope with real-life fears, saying Rudhirvana stays true to that philosophy.

Meanwhile, ‘Dastan-e-Guru Dutt’ at Kala Academy paid tribute to the legendary filmmaker’s life and artistry through music and narration by Fouzia and her team.

Veteran director Rahul Rawail reflected on Guru Dutt’s cinematic contribution, as the programme traced his journey from Kolkata to classics like Baazi and Pyaasa.

Both events received an enthusiastic response, underscoring IFFI’s celebration of diverse cinematic voices.
