In the ICC Champions Trophy Cricket, England has set a target of 352 runs before Australia in their Group B opening match in Lahore today. In reply, Australia were 98 for 2 in 14 overs, when reports last came in.
Earlier, put into bat first, England scored 351 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs, riding on the magnificent 165-run innings of Ben Duckett. Duckett hit 17 boundaries and three sixes during his career-best knock after the team got into early trouble at 43/2. He shared a 158-run stand with Joe Root, who made 68, and then a crucial 61-run partnership with skipper Jos Buttler to take the team to their highest-ever total in the Champions Trophy.
Australian spinner Adam Zampa was hit by Duckett all around the park. Left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis took three wickets. The Australian pace attack looked listless without the troika of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, who were ruled out due to injuries.
