Home Minister Amit Shah has called for establishing a common Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) structure across the country and directed state Directors General of Police to implement it at the earliest. He said, common ATS structure for the police across the entire country, provides an opportunity for uniform preparation to counter terror attacks at every level.
Mr Shah was speaking yesterday after inaugurating the two-day ‘Anti-Terrorism Conference-2025’ organized by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi. He noted that the NIA has worked extensively to develop a common ATS framework and has already hared it with state police forces. He said, a uniform structure, will ensure standardised preparedness and response mechanisms at every level across the country.
The Home Minister highlighted the need for building an impenetrable and strong ‘anti-terrorism grid’ in the country for coming generations so that they can firmly confront the future challenges. Mr Shah stressed that the country must stay two steps ahead as the landscape of terrorism is changing due to the use of technology in terrorist incidents. Mr Shah added that government is bringing an action plan to launch a 360-degree strike on organized crime.
He emphasized that all agencies should analyze every terrorist incident that has occurred in the country and the world to further enhance India’s counter-terrorism capabilities. The Home Minister stressed that the Narendra Modi government is ruthlessly curbing terror in the country. He said this annual conference has become a platform to deal with emerging threats under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of zero-tolerance against terrorism.
Mr Shah said, the investigations into the Pahalgam and Delhi blast cases are not ordinary policing but outstanding examples of watertight investigation. He added that these are also a great examples of how an alert officer can save the country from such a major crisis by remaining vigilant at all times. e said that for the first time, security forces punished those who planned the terrorist incident through Operation Sindoor and neutralized those who executed it through Operation Mahadev.
He lauded Jammu and Kashmir Police for conducting an excellent investigation into the explosion that occurred in Delhi. He said, the incident in Delhi happened with 40 kilograms of explosives, while 3 tonnes of explosives were recovered before they could detonate. Mr Shah pointed out that the entire team involved in conspiring this plot was apprehended before the Delhi blast could take place.
He said the investigation of this entire network was carried out very effectively by all agencies. n the occasion, Mr Shah honoured nine NIA personnel with the Sewa Padak and Veerta Padak for their commendable Service and contribution to counter-terror measures. The Minister also unveiled NIA’s Updated Crime Manual, Organised Crime Network Database and Lost and Recovered Weapon Database.
