Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that no one should interfere in the Special Intensive Revision exercise, as it is the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission. Addressing a private awards ceremony in New Delhi, Mr. Shah asserted that the government will strictly follow the policy of detect, delete, and deport to deal with infiltrators, adding that the right to vote must remain exclusive to Indian citizens.
He pointed out that in several border areas, fencing is difficult due to geographical challenges, and identifying infiltrators in such regions is the duty of state governments and local authorities. Mr. Shah alleged that some states overlook the issue for political reasons, treating infiltrators as a potential vote bank. Highlighting the importance of Hindi, the Home Minister said, the language is not merely a means of communication but a symbol of India’s unity and cultural identity.
