Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed sadness at the passing of renowned Kannada novelist Dr S.L. Bhyrappa. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that through six decades, the writer enriched literature with his knowledge of Indian philosophical tradition and insights on social issues. In 2023, the Narendra Modi government honored him with the Padma Bhushan award. Mr Shah said his demise is a grave loss to society.
