Hockey FIH Pro League: Indian women win in thrilling shoot-out against Netherlands

In the Hockey FIH Pro League, the Indian women’s team pulled off a thrilling shootout win against Olympic champions Netherlands in their final home match at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, this evening. Netherlands led 2-0 at halftime with goals from Pien Sanders and Fay van der Elst. However, India made a strong comeback as Deepika and Baljeet Kaur scored to level the match. In the shootout, Deepika and Mumtaz Khan scored for India, while Marijn Veen was the only scorer for the Netherlands, securing India’s victory. India women’s sits sixth in the standings with nine points from eight games. India had lost 2-4 to the same opponents earlier this week. They finished their home leg with three wins from eight matches, including today’s, and five losses, one in a shootout.
