HM Amit Shah to visit Jammu today to review rescue & relief operations and assess damage caused by floods

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu last night to review ongoing relief and rescue operations and assess the damage caused by recent cloudbursts and floods.

 

Mr Shah will chair a high level review meeting at Raj Bhavan in Jammu today to discuss and assess the flood relief measures in the affected areas across the Jammu region. Akashvani correspondent reports

 

During his day long visit, the Home Minister is scheduled to conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Jammu and hold meetings with officials at Raj Bhawan where he will be briefed by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the UT administration about the rescue, relief, and restoration works so far.

 

The meeting will cover the damages, ongoing relief and rescue operations, and the restoration of infrastructure across Jammu. Mr Shah will be accompanied by senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr Shah will focus on relief, rehabilitation, and restoration efforts in the affected areas.

 

He will also meet the affected families. Following the meeting, Mr Shah will visit various flood-hit areas, including Katra, the base camp for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and is likely to visit Narayana Hospital in Kakrayal, Katra to meet victims injured in the recent landslide incident at Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route.

 

Shah will also visit Kishtwar to assess the damage caused by the recent flash floods and cloudbursts. The Home Minister may announce decisions related to the restoration of connectivity, rehabilitation efforts, and other matters to support affected communities. He is scheduled to leave for New Delhi in the evening.
