HM Amit Shah lauds NCB for getting 73 drug offenders convicted in first 3 months of 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lauded the efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau for getting 73 drug offenders convicted in the first three months of this year, with the harshest punishments. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that to protect the youth from the scourge of drugs, the Government is ruthlessly demolishing drug cartels, ensuring their conviction. He noted that the Government is determined to shut every breathing space of drug rackets with all its might.

The Bureau’s focused approach to trial monitoring has led to a steady increase in the conviction rate from 60.5 percent in 2024 to 65.5 percent in 2025 and now to 68.6 percent in the first quarter of this year.
