Union Home Minister Amit Shah today conferred Police Medal for Gallantry to 26 Border Security Force-BSF personnels in New Delhi.
Addressing the BSF Investiture Ceremony and Rustamji Memorial Lecture event, Mr. Shah stressed that in Operation Sindoor, BSF and Army have set an unparalleled example of bravery before the world. He added that Operation Sindoor is the most precise and successful operation in the history of responses to terrorist attacks on India’s soil, and has fulfilled all its objectives. The Home Minister said that Operation Sindoor has exposed the bond between Pakistan and terrorism before the entire world.
Mr. Shah said has credited the successful Operation Sindoor to the government’s strong political will, accurate information of the intelligence agencies and the amazing display of lethality from the Armed Forces. He noted that when the Pakistani army tried to attack India’s civilian bases and military establishments, the Indian army gave a strong reply and demonstrated their firepower by attacking Pakistani airbases.
Mr Shah added that India has been facing Pakistan-sponsored terrorism for many decades. He highlighted that in 2014, when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Uri attack had happened and a befitting reply was given to the terrorists by entering the terrorist hideouts for the first time by doing surgical strikes.
Remembering the contributions of K.F. Rustamji, who played a pivotal role in raising the BSF, Mr. Shah said that after the 1965 war, a need was felt for a force that could secure the borders even during peacetime, leading to the inception of the BSF, with Rustamji becoming its first Director General. He stated that the bravery and contributions of BSF personnel in the 1971 war, which was imposed on India, will never be forgotten by the nation, nor should Bangladesh ever forget it.
