HM Amit Shah directs state administration to tackle Gandhinagar typhoid outbreak on war footing

Union Home Minister and Member of Parliament from Gandhinagar, Amit Shah, has asked the state administration to tackle the typhoid outbreak in Gandhinagar on a war footing. Following detailed reviews with Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior officials, Mr Shah directed that all 113 identified patients receive prompt treatment from expert doctors.

The outbreak, concentrated in Sectors 24, 28, and Adiwada, is linked to contaminated water from pipeline leakages. Mr Shah ordered immediate repairs to the water network and instructed that meals and facilities be provided for relatives at the Civil Hospital.

According to health officials, out of the 113 cases, 19 patients have been discharged, while  94 others are currently receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital and Urban Health Centres.

The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has deployed 75 health teams to survey 20,800 houses and has distributed 30,000 chlorine tablets. Round-the-clock OPD services are now active in all affected areas to curb the spread.
